Context
IDEA 1: 2D Platformer Sidescroller
IDEA 2: 3D Weapon Modeling
IDEA 3: Game OST
Strenghs: They are simple to make and we have ad multiple classes on how to make them.
Weakness: I'm not good at programming nor know any programming language, I prefer working with designs and front-end work like visuals.
Opportunities: Learn how to code and what softwares to use to make my experience better.
Threats: Having to deal with a strict deadline can be daunting especially as a beginner programmer and game developer.
Strenghs:I have most experience in 3D mpdeling and I did something similar for last year's final major project.
Weakness: I could be over ambitious with my design and not finish in time or lose interest/motivation during creating the 3D model.
Opportunities: Continue to accel my experience and knowlage in an already experienced field im interested in.
Threats: Time. I could accidentally go too much and not finish within the given time limit or I could get a massive art block and not know what to make.
Strenghs:Theres a lot of people around me that's good with music and can teach me how to do music theory or chords.
Weakness: I've never used a DAW before and has never had any experience in this kind of work.
Opportunities: Learning how to make music can open up a lot of opportunities for after college and can be handy for game development.
Threats: I would need to learn how to make music within 2-3 months whilst it takes the avarage person over 4 or 5 years to learn music theory.
I have chosen idea 2 as that idea just makes sense for me. Its the field I have most experience in and I enjoy making 3D models more than making a game or music.
My mind map/mood board will consist of images and references for what weapon to 3D model and games I want to base my style on.
Link if embed doesn't workPossible constraints:
PC Failure
Likely wont happen as my home PC is good enough to handle multiple heavy power programs at once and the college PCs are even better.
Time
Shouldn't be an issue as we have about 3 months to work on the final major project.
Personal Issues
This is a possible issue as I'm currently in a house crisis and may need to move during creating the model that can lead to 1-2 weeks of no work.
Rationale
My aim for this final major project is to show off my skills and abilities that I’ve learnt over the past 2 years with 3D modeling and texturing. The reason why I wanted to do this is because I’ve done most of my college experience doing 3D modelling and related works using blender to make the models and photoshop to concept and create the textures. I think this project can be pretty easy and I will go through the work decently fast just because of past experience and how much I know about 3D modelling, however texturing will be hard because I’ve done less texturing than modelling.
Project Concept
I will be making a 3D model of my own custom weapon. The weapon will be big scissors because I like weapons that aren’t normally used like a weapon so scissors are perfect as they have blades and can cut. The artstyle will be frutiger aero as I personally really like that artstyle and would love to try and replicate it for my final major project. Colours are really important for this too, and the colours I will be using are white, pastel pink and cyan blue because those colours compliment each other really well and it's the colours I use for my branding for my website. I think for a more unique model I will make it stylized with cel shading and a mix of 2D art within the model. Something optional I could do is add lore and story to my weapon as having a story can entice people to look into the model and see the little details embedded into the model and references to its own lore. Overall I think I will enjoy making this because it contains everything I like.
The way I will evaluate my finished project will be through other people's opinions on how it looks. If i was the one deciding if it looks good or not it would be biased, however if I make a form at the end of the project asking about their opinions and feelings towards the project.
